Singer says that the disastrous Dolly Parton tribute was
Elle King is opening on the moment “Rock Bottom” he had while singing at a concert that celebrated Dolly’s 78th birthday last year.
During the tribute, King described herself as “fucking hammered” while sworeing and forgotten the lyrics of the song of Parton he was singing, “Marry Me”.
The singer of “Ex’s and Oh’s” appeared in the podcast “Dumb Blonde” with Bunnie XO and shed some light on how the incident developed.
King talked about being in a period of depression at that time in his life and said things “everyone only reached a critical point.”
“I think it was probably just Bottom Rock,” said the daughter of “Saturday Night Live” Rob Schneider. “If that weren’t that, it was going to be something else.”
King said he was in a “dark situation I can’t talk about”, related to a relationship at that time, and that he had already played a “perfect” program on the day of acting.
To make things worse, he shared that “he had not eaten” and that he had not slept in days and suffered from “bad anxiety.”

“I took a photo of Tequila when I had been drinking a Martini,” he said, explaining: “I was like the youngest he had been.”
“And boom! I come and I like the low curtain, and stinks: it’s horrible,” he said. “I never want to cry like this on a car trip home. I never want to wake up feeling like that again. I never want to feel that shame.”
“Every time Dolly Parton calls you it’s great, but since she didn’t want it to be in those circumstances,” King said, and added that the legendary singer “called me to make me feel better.”
In a previous interview with Comedian Chelsea Handler, King said he delivered apology cards written by both Parton and Grand Ole Opry, the legendary field place where Parton’s birthday performances were held.
Parton has also spoken in King defense, saying Extra in an interview last year that people needed to “move on.”

“She is a great girl, and lately she has been going through many difficult things,” said Parton at that time. “He simply took too much to drink, so we forgive that and forget it and move on, because he felt worse than anyone who could.”
