Toyota has just presented a new concept that could totally transform the way people approach cities, with possible implications for cities around the world, including those of the United States.
The FT-ME, a compact electric quadcycle, is designed to face the challenges of life in the city while offering an accessible and ecological transport solution.
Initially focused on Europe, this innovative vehicle addresses universal urban issues relevant to metropolitan areas, which shows a combination of sustainability, accessibility and practicality that could inspire similar solutions here in the United States and in other places.

A COMPACT SPACE PROTECTOR
The FT-me is a real space savings, which measures less than 98.4 inches long. This small footprint allows you to occupy only half of a standard parking space or even a third when it is parked perpendicularly. Despite its small size, the FT-me does not commit to functionality. It has a two -seater design with a removable passenger seat for an additional loading space, 360 degree visibility for easy maneuver and hand controls for accessibility, which makes it appropriate for wheelchair users. The conceptual vehicle weighs only 937 pounds.

The Toyota FT-me is classified as a quadricycle due to its light design and limited power, which are aligned with the European regulatory criteria for such vehicles. Despite its automobile appearance, it is designed for urban mobility with an focus on efficiency and compactness instead of robust security characteristics and the performance of a traditional car.

Ecological and efficient
Toyota’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the design of the FT-ME. The concept shows a totally electric motor train with a range of at least 62 miles. A solar panel roof can add 12-19 miles per day, which can eliminate the need to load daily in urban environments. The FT-me concept uses recycled materials and aims at 90% in the carbon footprint compared to conventional urban vehicles.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the FT-me concept is its accessibility. He qualifies as a “vaiture sans permis” in France, which would allow drivers of only 14 years to operate without a complete license. The concept has a maximum speed of 28 mph, which makes it appropriate for urban environments.
