Something curious happened to the qualifications when Jimmy Fallon had a News host as a guest
Jimmy Fallon was accused of “Groveling to the Maga Media Machine” for interviewing News Wiseess Greg Gutfeld in “The Tonight Show” last week.
Now Fallon and the NBC Talk franchise could also be accused of making a cunning movement.
Thursday’s episode averaged 1.71 million viewers, the most important for a regular “Tonight Show” episode since December 19, 2023, Latenight reported in Nielsen’s qualifications. (That number has been overcome in that period of time by episodes that follow the football games on the network and the Olympic opening ceremony).
The audience represented a 57% increase over its average of 2025, according to Nielsen data informed by News.
Latenighter assumed that the controversial “Gutfeld!” The host “brought his News audience with him.” He pointed out that, although other guests the Jonas Brothers could also have contributed to the audience, the observers increased during the Gutfeld segment.
The interview video is also, with much, the most watched in recent days on the YouTube page of “The Tonight Show”.
The two avoided politics in their talk.
The Bonhomie irritated some spectators, who opposed Fallon giving him any platform. Gutfeld has been known for racially loaded humor traffic and conspiracy theories.
“Fallon has always been a man of ‘yes to all’. The guy has almost zero convictions,” a person wrote.
