Blood spill and violent confrontations have occurred occasionally on the very fortified border of the Koreas, called a demilitarized area. But when North Korean troops briefly violated the border in June last yearit did not become an important source of tensions, since South Korean officials evaluated that the soldiers did not deliberately commit the border intrusion.

The reason for Tuesday’s border crossing for North Korean soldiers was not immediately clear.

The DMZ of 155 miles long and 2.5 miles wide is the most armed border in the world. It is estimated that 2 million mines are dotted inside and near the edge, which is also protected by barbed wire fences, tank traps and combat troops on both sides. It is a legacy of the Korean war of 1950-53, which ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty.

The animosities between the Koreas are now executing as the North Korean leader Kim Jong continues to flaunt his military nuclear abilities and align with Russia about President Vladimir The Putin War in Ukraine. Kim is also ignoring Seoul calls and Washington to resume denuclearization negotiations.

Since its inauguration of January 20, President Trump said he would communicate with Kim again to revive diplomacy. North Korea has not responded to Mr. Trump’s comments and says that American hostilities against them have deepened since its inauguration.

Meanwhile, South Korea is experiencing a leadership vacuum after President Yoon Suk Yeol poster last week About his fatimated Imposition of martial law.
