Istanbul – An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 Shook Istanbul on Wednesday, said the disaster agency and emergency management of Türkiye. There were no reports of serious damage or injury, but many people left the buildings in Istanbul with fear, looking for information about their phones and calling their loved ones.
The disaster agency urged people to stay away from buildings.
The earthquake had a superficial depth of approximately 6 miles, according to the United States geological service. His epicenter was about 25 miles southwest of Istanbul in Marmara’s sea.

The earthquake was felt in several neighboring provinces and in the city of Izmir, about 340 miles south of Istanbul. There were several replicas, including one that measures 5.3.
The earthquake hit at 12:49 pm for a holiday when many children were out of school and celebrated in the streets. The earthquake forced the authorities in Istanbul to cancel the events.
Turkey Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said the authorities had not received reports from collapsed buildings. However, he told Haberturk Television, that there were reports of damage to buildings.
Mayor Mehmet Ergun Turan, from the Historical District of Fatih, which houses the famous blue mosque and Hagia Sophia told local media that there was no damage or collapse, but a person was injured by jumping from a panic window.

Kemal Cebi, mayor of the Kucukcekmece district in western Istanbul, told the local NTV station that there were still no negative developments, “but reported traffic traffic jams and said that many buildings were potentially at risk due to the density of the area.
Türkiye crosses with two main failures, and earthquakes are frequent.
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake on February 6, 2023and a second powerful tremor that arrived hours later, destroyed or damaged hundreds of thousands of buildings in 11 South and Southeast Turkish provinces, leaving more than 53,000 dead people. Another 6,000 people were killed in the northern parts of neighboring Syria.
