Stephen A. Smith criticizes Democrats for once again falling for Trump’s tricks

Smith noted how a majority of the opposition party refused to go along when Trump asked people to stand up if they believed Congress had a duty to prioritize American citizens over what he called “illegal aliens.” With that move, Smith said, Trump played against Democrats and “played them like a fiddle.”

“He is claiming that you hate him so much, that you are devoid of objectivity and thinking about what is best for the United States of America because you are too busy thinking about your own personal feelings and your animosity toward him,” Smith said. “And every time you do that, he smiles and makes fun of you and has fun.”

Smith urged listeners not to blame him for his brutally honest assessment.

“Don’t ever tell me ‘Eff Stephen A. Smith,’ or ‘Stephen A. Smith is selling out,’ or ‘Stephen A. Smith is this way or that way.’ I’m just telling you what it is. Don’t kill the messenger,” he said. “Shape the message in a way that benefits you for once. The man has been playing them like a fiddle for 11 years and you still can’t beat him.”

Smith, who has floated the idea of ​​a presidential run in 2028, took a similar tone when addressing Democrats’ possible plans to boycott the State of the Union during his show last week.

“At some point, ladies and gentlemen, there has to be an adult in the room,” he said. “If you’re going to act as juvenile, as petulant, as petty as you accuse the president of the United States, how are you going to maintain a high moral standard, at least high enough to judge him accordingly?”
