President Donald Trump got into the Christmas spirit early Wednesday by attacking Stephen Colbert and talking about late-night television.
“Stephen Colbert is a pathetic mess, with no talent or anything else necessary for success in show business,” Trump wrote in what marked his second consecutive, late-night meltdown on his Truth Social platform this week. “Now, after being fired by News, but left on the air, he’s actually gotten worse, along with his non-existent ratings. Stephen is fueled by hate and fumes ~ A dead man walking! News should ‘put him to sleep,’ NOW, it’s the humane thing to do!”
Trump’s post appeared as News aired a repeat of the Dec. 8 episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on the East Coast, just hours after the network aired “The Kennedy Center Honors,” which was hosted by the president. In his monologue that night, Colbert reacted to a clip of Trump by insisting that Jimmy Kimmel, who never hosted the Kennedy Center Honors but did appear onstage at the ceremony in 2014, was “horrible” at the concert.
“If I can’t beat Jimmy Kimmel in terms of talent, then I don’t think I should be president,” Trump said in remarks from the Oval Office earlier this month.
“You can’t and you shouldn’t!” Colbert joked.
In the replay, Colbert also gave Trump a “quick mental check” by revealing that he, unlike Kimmel, hosted the ceremony three times in a row.
Trump’s latest complaints come five months after News’ shocking decision to cancel the “Late Show,” which will end in May.
Apparently, Trump has already been angered by late-night pranks from weeks ago. Last month, Trump called on NBC to fire Seth Meyers “IMMEDIATELY” after the network apparently aired a rerun of “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” where the host mocked the president’s complaints about catapults on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers.

Social Truth
In additional posts early Wednesday morning, Trump lobbed more threats into the social media stratosphere and added fuel to the flames of his war on late-night television.
“Who has the worst Late Night host, News, ABC or NBC? They all have three things in common: high salaries, no talent, REALLY LOW RATINGS!” he wrote.
Trump continued to complain in another post: “If the network NEWS and their late night shows are almost 100% negative for President Donald J. Trump, MAGA and the Republican Party, shouldn’t their very valuable broadcast licenses be terminated? I say, YES!”
Trump concluded his series of Christmas posts of complaints with: “MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!”
