The congressman of the Republican party caught sleeping during the hearing on the bill to kick millions of Medicaid
The representative Ralph Norman (RS.C.) once criticized the administration of former President Joe Biden for being “asleep at the wheel”, but was literally caught if a nap was given on Wednesday during a hearing of the Chamber Rules Committee on the “Great and Beautiful bill” of President Donald Trump.
The legislation could expel millions of people from Medicaid and eligibility for the supplementary nutritional assistance program, which helps around 42 million Americans to buy food each month, while extending the tax cuts that Trump signed in 2017.
The Republicans had established the meeting for the 1 am, which seemed to go to bed of Norman.
“@Replepralphnorman is moving the medical attention of 13 million Americans who are not exciting enough to stay awake?” The representative Teresa Leger Fernández (Dn.m.) wrote on X, previously Twitter, with a companion video that shows Norman sleeping during the audience.
Fernández published the footage at 2:16 AM, which suggests that Norman only exceeded a little more than an hour before falling asleep. It was the second time in a week that a republican member of Congress slept during an audience related to the consequent Trump bill.
“He doesn’t care,” a user wrote in X in response to the images, with another person commenting: “If only Maga worried both for the middle class and the billionaires, the world would be a better place.”
The controversial legislation would provide hundreds of billions of dollars for Trump’s mass deportation initiative and an antimile defense system “Golden Dome” recently announced, which the president himself admitted on Tuesday that the US army had not even requested.

Republicans voted for little on Sunday to advance the package, formally known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Ley, with several holdouts demanding even faster cuts to Medicaid and green energy programs approved during the administration of Biden of what requires.
Norman himself shared some complaints on Friday with the bill and complained in a statement that the portion of medical care “delays the work requirements for healthy adults” until 2029 and do not “fight the unfair expansion of Medicaid de Obamacare” as much as he would like.
However, in terms of a provision with the aim of making Trump’s tax cuts permanent, he simply wrote: “That’s incredible!” The congressman is currently being saved by pro-trump users in social networks that argue that the bill will only affect illegal immigrants.
