Diego Borella, deputy director of the Netflix series “Emily in Paris”, died at the age of 47.

Borella collapsed in the set in Venice, Italy, in The Danieli hotel and was declared dead around 7 pm on Thursday. The news was confirmed by multiple international media and later in a statement by Paramount Television Studios, obtained by Datelline.

“We are deeply sad to confirm the sudden death of a member of the production family ‘Emily in Paris”, reads in the statement. “Our hearts are with the family’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

According to the Italian newspaper The RepublicBorella was a “well considered professional” who perfected his trade in cities such as Rome, New York and London. The departure also reported that the medical staff was present at the scene, but their efforts to revive Borella were not successful. The Italian publication said Borella could have died from a sudden heart attack.

The production stopped temporarily after Borella’s death, but resumed on Saturday.

A message obtained by The Independent detailed the moments before his death.

“Our ambulance reached 18.42 (Thursday night). The doctors made attempts to resurrect it. But in the end all efforts were unsuccessful. Around 19.30, he was declared deceased,” said the point of sale.

The news comes a few days after Netflix launched “First look images” next season. The filming for the next season began in May and was introduced by the official Instagram account of the program with a selfie of the series of the series, Lily Collins.
