After experiencing a limited game time while going back to Quinn Ewers his first two seasons in Texas, Arch Manning opened his first season as a full -time start on Saturday.
The young Quarterback finished the defeat of 14-7 for the opening of the season against Ohio State with 170 air yards, a touchdown and an interception. The disappointing performance caused mixed reactions of fans and the outstanding sports figures.
The winner of the Heisman trophy and the ESPN analyst “College Gameday”, Desmond Howard, was among the last to offer thoughts about whether Manning will recover and will finally be up to the advertising.

Howard, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1991, suggested that Manning should not have been included in the low season discussions about the main candidates for the most coveted trophy of university football.
“All the exaggeration and Heisman speak around them were unjustified,” Howard said in the Thursday edition of “The Rich Eisen Show.”

“He does not deserve to have his name in the same breath as that trophy.”
Howard also criticized what Manning observed when he saw a movie playing and theorized his last name protects him from some criticism.

“People don’t really want to criticize him, partly because he is a manning,” Howard added. “They want to stay in good favor with the Mannings, since they are a great name in our sport. So, what they do is make Matt Patricia, the defensive coordinator of Ohio State, only called this brilliant game that kept Steve Sarkisian and Arch Manning off balance for four whole rooms.”
