Dan Serafini, a former big leagues baseball launcher who played in the Major Leagues from 1996 to 2007, was convicted of killing his father -in -law and trying to kill his mother -in -law in 2021, California officials announced Monday.

A pleasure county jury also found Serafini, 51, guilty of first -degree robbery in addition to the first degree murder and the murder attempt of Gary Spohr and Wendy Wood, the authorities said.

The incident occurred on June 5, 2021, when the first to respond arrived at a house in the city of Tahoe and found Spohr dead by a single gunshot wound and injured wood.

Wood recovered from the wounds, but died for suicide a year later.

The video surveillance of the house showed a man with a gray hoodie, covering his face and a backpack that approached the house hours before the murder occurred, according to News 2 San Francisco. Another video showed the same man walking along the entrance path of the house.

The evidence of the two -year investigation pointed to Serafini and his romantic partner, Samantha Scott.

Prosecutors said they believed that the murder occurred more than one renewal project of $ 1.3 million, according to field media. A text message provided as evidence: “I’m going to kill you someday.”

Serafini is ready for the sentence on August 18 in pleasure county.

The Minnesota Twins selected Serafini in the first round of the 1992 MLB Draft. He made his debut for them in 1996 and released three seasons before joining the Chicago puppies in 1999.
