Americans continue to invest in their aesthetic health.
A new report by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASP) shows constant growth in cosmetic procedures last year, particularly in body contour and minimally invasive treatments.
The report data, detailed below, reveal where people spend their money.
Cosmetic surgeries remain stable
Of the almost 1.6 million cosmetic surgical procedures carried out in 2024, the liposuction and the increase in breasts led the list.

“The surgical procedures grew by 1% from 2023”, the president of the ASP, Dr. Scott Hollenbeck, a general plastic surgeon based in Charlottesville, Virginia, shared a press release, pointing out that the boundary procedures of the body saw the greatest increase.
Thigh and buttock elevators rose 3%, while arm and neck elevators increased by 2%.
Surgery for weight loss exceeds popular Ozimpic treatment in a new shocking comparison
Surgeons believe that this can reflect the growing use of medicines for LPG-1 weight loss, such as Ozempic and Wogovy, which can lead to a fallen skin.
The minimally invasive treatments will reign
The minimally invasive procedures continue to dominate the aesthetic panorama, with more than 28.5 million made last year. The five main ones listed below led the package.
- Neuromodulatory injections (e.g., Botox, Dysport): 9,883,711
- Hyaluronic acid filters (ha): 5,331,426
- Skin resurface (e.g., laser, chemical exfoliations, microdermabrasion): 3,703,305
- Skin treatments (for example, removal of laser/tattoo hair, IPL): 3,112,056
- Increased lips increase: 1,449,565

“These treatments are still strong due to their affordability and low time of inactivity,” said A ASPS member Surgeon Dr. Kristy Hamilton, a general plastic surgeon based in Houston, Texas, in the statement.
“In spite of the so -called ‘filling fatigue’, the fillings of HA continue to lead the list, when they are made naturally, they are extremely effective,” he added.
The weight loss connection
For the first time, ASPS tracked the use of GLP-1 weight loss medications, noting that more than 837,000 recipes were written by ASP surgeons in 2024.
Of those patients, 20% had already undergone surgery, 39% considered surgery and 41% explored non -surgical options, the report shared.
The impact of medicines for weight loss on cancer risk in a new study
“These medications are helping patients reach a healthy weight before surgery,” said Dr. Heather Faulkner, cosmetic plastic surgeon based in Atlanta, Goergia.
“But they are not substitutes: it must be close to its objective weight before considering procedures such as abdomenal or elevators.”
What is feeding the interest?
According to experts, several factors could contribute to the high demand for cosmetic procedures.
“It may be greater exposure through social networks or a general decrease in taboos,” said Hollenbeck. “Anyway, patients prioritize their aesthetic health.”

Surgeons agree that aesthetic procedures go beyond vanity, suggesting that it is about feeling strong, safe and healthy.
Many also see them as part of a holistic self -care routine, along with the diet, physical state and mental well -being.

Social networks are also helping to normalize aesthetic attention, making the procedures more accessible and less stigmatized, according to the report.
Patients now openly discuss their experiences and seek natural and subtle improvements, not exaggerated results.

“There is a tendency towards the ‘body of the dancer’,” Dr. Michele Shermak, a general plastic surgeon based in Baltimore, Maryland, said in the report.
“Smaller implants, raised silhouettes: women want to seem refined, not exaggerated.”
Inconstructive surgery increasing

Savings security
While trends can come and go, ASPS emphasizes that security should always be the first, recommending that the procedures perform plastic surgeons certified by the Board with the appropriate training and experience.
“Patients want to look and feel better,” Hollenbeck added. “And when done well, aesthetic attention can support mental and physical well -being in truly significant ways.”
