The mayor of DC calls Trump
Washington – The mayor of DC, Muriel Bowser, said on Monday that the acquisition of President Donald Trump of the City Police Department is “disturbing and unprecedented”, even if it tracks with some of the false attacks of the president in the city’s crime rate.
“I cannot say that, given the rhetoric of the past, that we are totally surprised,” Bowser said at a press conference. “I can tell DC residents that we will continue to operate our government in a way that makes you proud … we will work with the federal government to do the things they should do for the city.”

Other DC leaders had harder words. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (DD.C.) described Trump’s actions “a historical assault on the DC Home rule” that DC residents do not support.
