The Mayor’s Office of New York and the Comptroller of the city Brad Lander arrested in the Immigration Court
The Comptroller of New York City and candidate for the Democratic Mayor’s Office, Brad Lander, was arrested, handcuffed and carried by masked agents in the Immigration Court on Tuesday in a shocking sample of force in the America of President Donald Trump.
“You don’t have the authority to arrest American citizens,” shows the video that Lander tells the people who stop.
“I’m not obstructing, I’m standing here in the hall. I asked to see the judicial orders,” he tells them. At least one of the people who stop Lander have a police vest, indicating that the agent is part of immigration and customs application.
Lander was in court escorting someone who attended his immigration hearing, as he has done in the past.
DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin told News themezone that she was arrested for “assaulting the police and preventing a federal officer.”
“It is wrong that politicians looking for a higher position undermine police security to obtain a viral moment,” he continued. “No one is above the law, and if you put a hand on an agent of the law, you will face consequences.”
New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D), told a multitude of protesters gathered outside the Federal Building, where she was arrested who was arrested that they did not tell her that charges have not been presented or will be presented.
“He leaves a free man,” he said about the comptroller.
“This is New York,” Hochul added. “Land of immigrants. We are proud of them.”
“I am happy to inform that I am fine. I lost a button,” Lander said, taking the governor’s podium.
“But I’m going to sleep in my bed tonight safe with my family,” he continued. “I don’t have to worry about my rights of due process. In that elevator, they separated me from someone named Edgardo, whom I had just known a couple of minutes before. Edgardo is an ice detention and is not going to sleep in his bed tonight. As far as I know, he has no lawyer.”
Lander said that ICE treated him “very well”, noting that two of the ice agents who arrested him were immigrants who lived in the exterior districts of the city. He emphasized the importance of supporting immigrants through non -violent media, and praised New York as “the biggest immigrant city that the world has known.”

When he was contacted to comment, the White House accused Lander of searching for attention.
“Like many Democratic politicians before him, the candidate for mayor Brad Lander seems to think that the Federal Police is obstructed is his fame ticket,” said White House spokesman, Abigail Jackson. “Unfortunately, it’s just his ticket to be arrested.”
Lander’s office confirmed that he was escorting a defendant of the Immigration Court in 26 Federal Plaza when he was arrested.
“I face thugs, and I will not go back to a fight,” he published on social networks shortly after. “When I am mayor, I will fight like hell for immigrant New Yorkers.”
The local media Amnewyork reported from the court that Lander and his staff were walking in the arm with a person who had just been dismissed his immigration case, waiting for appeal. While they walked, the Outlet, Federal Agents of ICE, the FBI and the Treasury Department tried to seize the immigrant and proceed to stop Lander.
The arrests in the immigration courts, even in 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan, have shot themselves in recent weeks, since the Trump administration has tried to maximize the number of immigration arrests he performs daily. Instead of prioritizing the arrest and deportation of people who have a violent criminal record, the Administration has tried to stop and deport anyone where you can have in their hands, part of the “Mass Deportation” agenda of Trump.

In the Imigration Court, ICE lawyers have requested the dismissal of immigration cases against undocumented persons, only to arrest them directly outside the courtroom. The arrests are based on an authority called “accelerated elimination”, in which someone who has been in the United States less than a certain amount of time or who meets other criteria is arrested and deported without due process.
In the past, the presidents most frequently used accelerated elimination for people who had recently crossed the border between the United States and Mexico. But Trump, both in his first and second terms, has used it against a much broader group of people, including those who have been in the United States for two years.
Zohran Mamdani, the member of the Estad assembly Or New York is also postulated for mayor, issued a statement demanding the immediate release of Lander.

The executive director of the Union of Civil Liberties of New York, Donna Lieberman, described the incident as a “surprising abuse of power and a threat to our democracy.”
“Feeding a public official, the duly chosen comptroller of New York City, for asking questions is a dangerous intimidation and shows unbridled contempt for the will of the people of New York,” he said in a statement. “He sends an unmistakably authoritarian message: that ICE does not care about the rule of law and that anyone who exercises their right to challenge the ice and speak for immigrants will be punished.”
Recently, Lander presented his experiences as an observer of the Immigration Court during a primary debate of the City of New York City on Thursday, when asked what he would do as mayor of the city if the Trump administration deployed soldiers in the city to support immigration arrests and suppress the protests.
“Let me tell you how the mayor could say,” Lander began. “Last Thursday, and again this morning, I went to the federal building to observe the immigration courts and then accompany immigrants beyond the ice agents so that they could leave the federal building and return to their families; one was a couple with children in the school system of our city. They were worried that they would not see them again.”

That is part of his commitment to “face thugs,” Lander continued.
“I do not go back to a fight, and I will make it clear that we are going to protect 40% of the New Yorkers who are immigrants,” he said. “We are going to keep them safe, and we will keep New York City safe.”
In April, the FBI agents arrested the Milwaukee County Circuit Judge, Hannah Dugan, in their courtroom for obstruction charges, with the director of the FBI Kash Patel claiming that he had helped an undocumented immigrant “evade the arrest.” He declared himself innocent last month.
