The members of the cast of Les, the cast members, plan to boycott during the visit of the Trump Kennedy Center
Approximately a dozen members of a tour of the musical “Les Misérables” say they plan to sit an upcoming action to which President Donald Trump is expected to attend.
According to CNN, “at least 10 to 12 artists” will not take the stage of the center of Kennedy for the afternoon show of June 11, when Trump will be at the audience. The sources told The Outlet that the main stars and the members of the cast are planning to omit the performance.
The appearance of the president also coincides with a collection of planned funds of the Kennedy Center, for which, according to reports, sponsorship levels are sold for up to $ 2 million.
The news of the “Mis” boycott attracted a scathing response from Richard Grenell, whom Trump designated as an interim director of the Kennedy center in February as part of a controversial purge of the organization.
“Any artist who is not professional enough professional to act for customers of all origins, regardless of political affiliation, will not be welcome,” reads Grenell, Entertainment Weekly reported. “In fact, we believe that it would be important to get those vapid and intolerant artists to ensure that producers know who they should not hire, and that the public knows what shows have political evidence to sit at the audience.”

“Les Misérables”, one of the most successful scenic musicals of the 80s and 90s, is based on the classic Victor Hugo novel that represents the Paris survey of 1832. The debut production was opened in Broadway in 1987 and won eight Tony Awards, including the best musical. In 2013, Anne Hathaway won an Oscar for her performance in the film adaptation, also starring Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman.
Grenelll’s comments occur a few days after he criticized “American Idol” for recruiting the actor and composer of “Hamilton”, Lin-Manuel Manuel Miranda, a Trump critic for a long time, as a guest judge for the event of two Disney Night episodes of the program, programmed for air next week.
In addition to his theater credentials, Miranda wrote songs for Disney films “Moana” and “Encanto” and appeared in the live action movie “Mary Poppins Returns” with Emily Blunt.

In February, Trump became president of the Kennedy Center, traditionally a bipartisan institution, and fired his long -term president, Deborah Rutter, along with 18 members of the Board that former President Joe Biden had appointed.
The news of the review led to the production of “Hamilton” to discard his eight -week race at the Kennedy center in 2026.
Since then, Trump has continued to increase his attacks against artistic organizations throughout the country. Last week, the National Endowment for the Arts began canceling subsidies offers to numerous arts groups after Trump proposed to eliminate the agency completely in its next budget.
