Washington (AP) – The National Guard troops have already temporarily arrested civilians in Los Angeles’s protests for immigration raids, said the commander in charge on Wednesday, but they quickly delivered them to the police.

Major General Scott Sherman, speaking in an interview with News and another means of communication, also said that around 500 of the National Guard troops have been trained so far to accompany the agents in immigration operations. The photos of guard soldiers that provide security for the agents have already been distributed by immigration officials.

Although things have calmed down in Los Angeles, Sherman warned that he expects the situation to intensify.

“We are waiting for a ramp,” he said, noting that protests are now being discussed throughout the country. “I am concentrated here in Los Angeles, what is happening here.

Sherman is a task force commander 51, which supervises the more than 4,000 guard troops and 700 Marines who have been deployed in Los Angeles to provide security during protests.

He said that these temporary arrests were in recent days, and there have been many recently, since things have calmed down in the city. The troops do not participate in the real arrests or the activities of application of the law, and instead immediately release the person once the police put them under control or put wives.
