Wrapped in multicolored flags and protest signs waving, the Juerguistas worldwide have gathered throughout June For pride events – A one -month celebration of the LGBTQ community that also symbolizes a fight in progress by equal rights and inclusion.

The roots of the pride month date back to June 28, 1969, when a police raid in New York City Stonewall Inna gay bar, led to several nights of clashes with LGBTQ clients of the bar and others, which were known as Stonewall disturbances or the Stonewall uprising, a demonstration that is now considered the beginning of the LGBTQ rights movement. Marches took place in Manhattan, Chicago and San Francisco to commemorate Stonewall’s anniversary the next June and, over time, became an annual event in more and more cities. The month of pride won the federal recognition for the first time in 1999 of then President Bill Clinton.

Pride Marches and festivals have been carried out throughout the month in different parts of the United States and worldwide, and New York 2025 Pride MarchHonoring Stonewall’s legacy, is scheduled for Sunday. Here is a look at some of the events of Washington, DCto Katmandú and beyond.
