“One day without women” in Mexico
An influence of Mexican social networks was shot dead during a live broadcast on Tiktok, where he had tens of thousands of followers, authorities said Wednesday.
The Mexican press appointed her as Valeria Márquez, 23, who published videos related to beauty and lifestyle, some of which had hundreds of thousands of views.
She was killed Tuesday night in her beauty hall in Zapopan, a suburb of the western city of Guadalajara, the Jalisco state prosecutor’s office reported.
“The victim is someone with an active presence and influence on social networks,” he said in a statement. “A man entered the facilities and apparently shot him a gun.”
According to the Reuters news agency, Márquez was seen in the live broadcast that said: “They come”, before a voice outside the screen asked “Hey, okay?” Márquez responded “yes” before silencing the sound in live broadcast and, seconds later, he was shot dead, Reuters reported.

The reason for the attack was not known immediately.
Reuters reported that Mexico’s security cabinet is working with prosecutors to investigate the murder, President Claudia Sheinbaum said Thursday.
“An investigation is being conducted to find those responsible and the reason behind this situation,” Sheinbaum said at his regular morning press conference. “Our solidarity is with your family.”
The region is a seedbed of criminal activities, home from one of the most violent drug trafficking groups in Mexico, Jalisco New Generation poster. The group has been accused of using false job ads to attract new members and torture and kill recruits who resist.
Until now, however, investigators have not found evidence that a criminal group was behind the shooting, the State Security Coordinator, Roberto Alarcon, to journalists, told reporters.
The mayor of Zapopan, Juan Jose Frangie, said that his office has no history that Márquez requests help from the authorities due to threats against her.
“It’s amazing that you’re doing a video and then you’re killed. Femicide is the worst,” Frangie said.
According to media reports, Márquez was killed by a man who intended to bring him a gift.
Only a few hours later, a former congressman of the Mexican party PRI, Luis Armando Córdova Díaz, was also shot dead in a coffee in the area, said News. The state prosecutor’s office said he was killed in the Valle Real neighborhood of Zapopan.
The United Nations say that about 10 women or girls are killed every day in Mexico, where criminal and gender -related violence is rampant.
Since 2001, at least 50,000 women have been killed in Mexico, according to the UN, but only 2% of cases end up in a criminal sentence and only one in 10 victims reports their aggressor.
