The video of the men’s hockey team returning to the US is so bad that

On Monday, the National Hockey League released a video about X showing members of the US men’s hockey team disembarking at Miami International Airport after winning the gold medal in the Winter Olympics 2026.

Considering this is the first time in 46 years that the men’s team has won gold at the global sporting event, one would assume they would receive a hero’s welcome. But, thanks to A rude exchange the team had with President Donald Trump After their big victory, they received a rather zero welcome.
The video shows the team, many of them wearing gold medals, walking towards the airport and waving to the crowd. But what makes the video really embarrassing is that very few people are cheering them on: a single person can be heard shouting “Woo!” followed by awkward applause and a moment of silence.

Then someone says out loud, “Wow!” and then a handful of people start chanting “USA! USA!” in the warmest way possible. As more players enter the airport, pumping their fists and giving thumbs up, a few more “courtesies” and applause are heard before it falls silent.
Although the team returned to Miami, a city that cares more about college football and basketball than any sport that involves ice, the disappointing reception could be due to the team’s behavior when speaking on the phone with Trump.

The congratulatory call that the president made to the team was caught on video and has caused outrage. In it, FBI Director Kash Patel, who is facing your own reaction for drinking beers with the men’s hockey team on a supposedly taxpayer-funded trip to Italy — holding a phone while Trump talks to the team on speakerphone. After Trump invited the men to the White House to celebrate his victory and even offered the team a military plane to take them to his State of the Union address on Tuesday, the president added:
“And we have to, I have to tell you, we’re going to have to bring in the women’s team,” Trump said before laughing, causing the men’s hockey team to burst into laughter.

The US women’s hockey team also won gold at the Winter Olympics, but after video of Trump’s degrading call went viral on social media, have decided to reject the offer of the president of the White House.
On the other hand, women can go to a much better celebration. Flav Rapper Flavor offered to receive them in Las Vegas in response to Trump’s call. After the hip-hop star made the offer in Xbrands began offering free accommodation, flights, and other services to the women’s team in the comments section of their tweet.
Although the women’s team is definitely the winner in this scenario, the men’s team’s critics who watched their sad welcome video on X were still eager to make the men feel like losers.
