The viral NFL memory of Lawrence Taylor resurfaced years later: ‘It had 41 coords’ ‘lights’

New York giants only had a correct option when they had the number 2 of the 1981 Draft: it was to choose the North Carolina Lawrence Taylor supporter.

Taylor was chosen behind the New Orleans Saints George Rogers corridor and in front of players such as Freeman McNeil, Kenny Easley and EJ Junior.

The member of the Professional Football Hall of Fame went viral in 2010 for remembering how his draft night was. More than 15 years later, Taylor’s interview with Sports Illustrated went viral.

“I don’t remember too much,” Taylor said when he was asked to remember his draft night. “I had 41 coars lights, so I couldn’t tell you … I just know it was an exciting moment, but it wasn’t like that. It was the old school. I wasn’t in New York or anything.”

Taylor said he had his “drinks drinks” with him.

The clip seemed to resonate with NFL fans when it went viral in X.

The Taylor de los Gigantes team completely changed its defense. He was the defensive rookie of the year and the defensive player of the year in his first season. It was a six-time all-private selection of the first team in its first six seasons.

He won two Super Bowls with the giants during his career.
