A 63 -year -old French climber died trying to climb the third highest mountain in the world, Kanchenjunga, the organizer of the expedition said on Monday, while the British media reported that a climber from the United Kingdom in the same peak was rescued.

Margareta Morin died on camp 4 of the Himalayas mountain of 28,169 feet on Saturday.

Nepal is home to eight of the 10 highest peaks in the world and welcomes hundreds of climbers every year during the spring and autumn climbing seasons.

It has already issued more than 1,000 permits for its mountains this season, including 75 for Kanchenjunga.
