Thousands of Norwegians said by mistakes that millions won in lottery
/ News themezone
Thousands of lottery players in Norway were told by mistake last week that they had earned more money than they really had.
Norsk Propina, the state gaming company, told the people who won the Eurojackpot on Friday they told him that they had won millions in incorrect amounts. It is not clear exactly how many people were affected, but no client was paid the wrong awards, the company said in a press release.
The error arose from an error when the profits in euros, which the company receives from Germany, became Norwegian Kroner, and multiplied by 100 instead of divided by 100, said the company.
“I am very sorry that we have disappointed so many, and I understand that people are angry with us,” said the CEO of Norsk, Tonje Sagstuen, in a translated statement. “I have received many messages from people who had managed to make holiday plans, buy an apartment or renew before they realized that the amount was incorrect. For them I can only say: I’m sorry! But I understand that it is a small comfort.”

On Saturday, Sagstuen announced that he was renouncing after error. He had worked at the company since 2014 and had been CEO since September 2023, the company said.
“As a manager, it has been my responsibility to handle the mistakes that have occurred, and it has been very gratifying to see how a North United’s tip has responded to the challenges and has worked day and night to solve them,” Sagstuen said in a translated statement. “That is why it is also incredibly sad to leave NORSK Tips and all talented people who work in Hamar.”
Sagstuen will receive six months of compensation for his employment contract, said Norwegian BroadCaster TV2. From last year, it was reported that its salary was 3,732,000 caught, or $ 370,338, according to TV2, which cited a regional newspaper.
In the announcement published on its website, Norsk Tiping said it has experienced a series of technical problems in the last year and that it is investigating how the error happened.
