There are three active cases of tuberculosis in Maine from this week, since TB continues to increase throughout the country, according to the Maine disease control and prevention Center, according to Portland Press Herald.
Lindsay Hammes, spokesman for the agency, said he is “aware of three cases of active TB with links to the Portland metropolitan area and is in the midst of the realization of our typical response.”
She said that Maine’s CDCs were working to reach anyone who could have come into contact with any of the infected patients so that they can be evaluated.
Hammes added that each case seems to be contracted from a separate source.
