Tim Walz makes a great announcement about his next political movement
Minneapolis (AP)-the governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, said Tuesday that he will look for a third term in the 2026 elections, hoping to overcome the chances of becoming the oldest governor in a state where voters have generally said that two terms were enough.
In a campaign video published on YouTube, Walz said he is running because his work is not done and that he wants to make Minnesota a place where everyone has the opportunity.
“I’ve seen how we help each other during difficult times,” he said. “And go, we have seen terrible times this year. I am disconsolate and angry at the beautiful people we lost to armed violence. But at the moment we have to unite. We cannot lose hope because I have seen what we can do when we work together.”

Walz had been building his national profile since his defeat in November. He has been a strong critic of Trump, since he has traveled the early Caucus and the primary states. In May, he asked the Democrats in South Carolina to face Trump, saying: “Maybe it’s time for us to be a little more bad.”

No Republican from Minnesota has won a state career since Tim Pawlenty was re -elected to a second term as governor in 2006. However, the traditionally democratic state has become increasingly competitive in recent years. A couple of republican candidates were close to winning state races in 2022 and the State Chamber was tied between Republicans and Democrats for the 2025 session.
On the republican side of the governor’s career, the former business executive and army veteran Kendall Qualls announced his candidacy in May and hopes to become the first black governor of Minnesota. Qualls also executed in 2022, but lost the republican support before the family doctor and former state senator Scott Jensen, who announced in July that he will run again.
The only current head of the Republican party office in the race so far is the state representative Kristin Robbins, by Maple Grove, who presides over a committee of the House of Representatives formed this year to investigate fraud in government programs. She announced her candidacy on August 20.
