Timothe Chalamet says he felt very disrespected after crude prank on set by A-list co-stars
Timothée Chalamet says “Interstellar” was his all-time favorite movie to work on, but he revealed that he received a rather jarring surprise during his last day on set thanks to his co-star Matthew McConaughey.
While we’re talking about the 2014 sci-fi drama with variety In a joint interview with McConaughey on Feb. 21, the “Marty Supreme” star spilled the beans about a stomach-churning joke the Texas-born actor pulled on him, which McConaughey described as a “coming of age” moment.
“I have to say, on my last day on ‘Interstellar,’ I was sad to leave. In my trailer, I went to the bathroom and there was a huge poop in the toilet,” Chalamet began.
Admitting that the rude antics left him feeling “very disrespected,” he continued: “I know I’m not the star of this movie, but who’s coming here? So I went up to all the grabbers, these big guys, and I said, ‘Hey, one of you dropped it in my trailer.'” “They said no.”
The now Golden Globe winner shared that the film’s director, Christopher Nolan, was aware of McConaughey doing the stunt.
“I walked up to Nolan and he pointed at Matthew, and Matthew had this devilish grin on his face. I said, ‘Why did you do that?’ You said, ‘In Texas, it’s coming of age, baby.'”
After Chalamet recalled the incident, the Oscar winner jokingly referred to the poop as a “memory,” to which the French-American actor responded, “That’s a true story.”

While Chalamet eventually downplayed the stinking joke, social media users on X weren’t as tolerant about it.
“That’s so funny if you’re twelve,” one person said, while another called the act “disgusting.”
Someone else added: “This isn’t it!!! I’m not laughing at ANYTHING Matthew.”
Other X users were amused by the gesture.
“Christopher Nolan pointing directly at Matthew while smiling might be the funniest part of this whole story,” one person wrote.
Citing the “Dallas Buyers Club” star’s signature line, someone else wrote, “McConaughey really said ‘okay, okay, okay’… and left Timmy with a memory of Texas 🚽😂.”
Another called McConaughey’s joke a “strange honor,” adding, “You have to respect the commitment to the part, even if Timothée Chalamet probably didn’t feel that way at the time.”
