The student of the “modern family” Ariel Winter is opening on his traumatic stardom of childhood.
The actor was only 11 when he was chosen in 2009 in the ABC situation comedy as the adolescent introvert Alex Dunphy. While finding fame and recognition for his performance throughout the 11 years of the program, Winter recalled that Hollywood was “a dark place” in a wide interview on Thursday with The Daily Mail.
“I am familiar with the male predators because I worked in Hollywood at an early age,” Winter told The Outlet. “I don’t want to say too much about it, but by the time I was on a laptop and a cell phone, I received inappropriate messages from older men, and caused trauma.”
“The experiences I had in person and online when I was a child have affected me so deeply that I had to go to therapy for it,” the actor continued, now 27 years. “The film and television industry is a dark place.”
Winter, who left Los Angeles after “Modern Family” ended in 2020, recently told People that the city “has some non -great memories” for her. She said she was “pushed to the industry” at age 4 for her “scenic mom,” Chrisoula “Crystal” Workman, who wanted him to be famous.
Winter was withdrawn from his house in 2012 after the accusations of abuse against his mother, who, according to the reports, was accused of judicial documents of pushing, hitting and slapping the winter, and supposedly imposing a diet so strict that the co -star of winter would give him food in secret. Workman was also accused of dressing winter with very inappropriate attire for his age.
The Department of Services of Children and Families then confirmed the accusations of emotional abuse, and guardianship during the winter was transferred to his adult sister, Shanelle Gray. Workman has denied accusations; Winter was emancipated by his mother in 2015.

Winter also opened on the online harassment he suffered during his adolescence, telling people in May that he had to endure “adult people” describing it in articles as a “fat fucking.”
“I mean, he was 14 years old,” he told The Outlet. “My self -esteem was totally damaged.”
Since then, Winter has found a purpose in associating with the non -profit organization Sosa (OA except on online sexual abuse), which is directed to sexual predators online and attracts them to light. Winter passed a 12 -year decoy for a sting operation in Oklahoma City.
“Sometimes you can be afraid of being 12 years old and [talking] For older men, but it is validated to keep predators who have been damaging children, “he told Daily Mail.

“By growing in the entertainment industry, I have been the girl we are trying to save,” he said. “It is vital for me to help protect young women from the experiences I endured in my own life.”
