Trump has a very unexpected texting partner: report
President Donald Trump and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) have been in regular contact since their friendly meeting in the Oval Office in November, Axios reported Tuesday.
The two exchanged phone numbers during the meeting and have been texting since then, according to two sources cited by the outlet.
The exact content (and frequency) of the messages is still unclear.

But the back-and-forth marks a striking shift from his rhetoric before the meeting, when Trump mocked the then-mayoral candidate as a “communist” and Mamdani responded by comparing the president to a fascist.

However, relations between the two may have worsened in recent days, following Mamdani’s criticism of the US-led military operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
When asked during a recent interview with The New York Times if he still has a good relationship with the mayor, Trump responded: “Well, he did, but he hit me sooner than I thought. I thought it would take him at least a month. I mean, he hit me in Venezuela.” Mamdani said he was simply being honest.
