Trump makes a claim so stupid it could easily be debunked by looking at a map
donald trump He may be president, but that doesn’t mean I want him as a navigator on a road trip.
That’s because the president made a claim Sunday about the Middle East that is not supported by any map, and that would allow him to fail a geography exam.
While speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump praised Qatar for his role in the ceasefire and credited the “tremendous” help of the country’s emir, Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in mediating the peace agreement.
Trump could have left it there, but He made a shameful mistake.
“They were very brave and their leader, the emir, was very brave,” Trump said. “Their country is right in the middle of everything. More so than any other country. In their country, you cross a line and you’re there.”
He added:
“Other countries are there, but they’re an hour or an hour and a half away, a big difference. You literally walk from Iran to Qatar. You can walk in a second. You go ‘boom boom,’ and now you’re in Qatar, that’s tough territory.”

The thing is, if one simply looks at a map of the Middle East, Qatar and Iran do not share a land border. They’re separated by the Persian Gulf, so they share a maritime border, but there’s no way one can be in Qatar and then, “boom boom,” be in Iran, unless they can walk on water at the speed of The Flash.

It didn’t take long for the X people to realize Trump’s mistake on Sunday.
“One of those strange moments where Trump offers very specific and totally inaccurate information about something no one asked him about,” The Washington Post’s John Hudson tweeted, along with a map.
News politics reporter Kathryn Watson also pointed out the error by also providing a map. This led other critics of X to share their two cents.
