The president trotted out a long-debunked conspiracy theory.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday shared a meme on his Truth Social platform that revived the long-debunked “birther” conspiracy theory about his first predecessor in the White House, President Barack Obama.
Trump hit the “back to the truth” button on an image of Obama taking the oath of office, along with the caption: “A man who uses a different name. He swore on a Bible he doesn’t believe in. And he betrayed a country he wasn’t born in.”
The post echoed the false claim that Obama was not born in the United States, an unfounded accusation that Trump pushed for years and used to propel himself in politics.
