On Friday, Trump signed an executive order apparently renouncing the Department of Defense as the “War Department” because it has “a stronger sound.”
However, Congress would need to approve an official change to the name of the department. Trump’s order simply allows the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, to use secondary titles to refer to himself and the organization.
