President Trump told reporters on Saturday, without citing evidence, that he believes A deadly attack at a girls’ primary school. in southern Iran last weekend was “made by Iran.”
“In my opinion, from what I’ve seen, that was done by Iran… We believe it was done by Iran, because they’re very inaccurate with their munitions, they’re not accurate at all, it was done by Iran,” Trump said aboard Air Force One after attending the dignified transfer of six U.S. soldiers who were killed in an Iranian attack on Kuwait on March 1.
When asked by a reporter if Trump’s assessment was accurate, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth responded that the Pentagon was “investigating,” adding that “the only side attacking civilians is Iran.”
Iranian state media and health officials reported that the attack on February 28, the first day of the war, killed dozens of people, including schoolgirls between the ages of 7 and 12. Iranian officials have blamed the United States and Israel for the attack.
Israel was not operating in the area, two sources told News themezone on Friday. One of them, an Israeli source, told News themezone that Israel was not behind the attack and said the Israeli Air Force was not operating near the school.
A person familiar with the ongoing investigation also told News themezone on Friday that U.S. investigators believe the United States may have been responsible.
In a statement, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said “the investigation is ongoing” into the incident.
“There are no conclusions at this time, and it is irresponsible and false for anyone to claim otherwise,” Kelly said Friday. “As we have said, unlike the Iranian terrorist regime, the United States does not attack civilians.”
The explosion occurred in Minab, a city in Hormozgan province in southern Iran.

Footage filmed from a parking lot showed black smoke billowing from a damaged building adorned with crayon-drawn murals, children and an apple.
News themezone geolocated the clip to a building in Minab. Iranian media identified the building as Shajareh Tayyebeh Primary School. Saturdays are normal school days in Iran.
News themezone also confirmed that the building was located very close to two sites controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iranian state media has said more than 170 people were killed in the explosion.
