Trump tells Irs to revoke Harvard

In an apparent act of retaliation for the university that refuses to give the demands of President Donald Trump, his administration has addressed the internal tax service to revoke Harvard’s tax, CNN and Washington Post reported Wednesday.

People familiar with the situation told the points of sale that a final decision on Trump’s directive is imminent. Although the president can make requests with the IRS, the agency has the exclusive authority to investigate and change tax exempt states, which are granted to charitable, religious, educational and social welfare organizations.

The reported request was for the interim interim lawyer of the IRS, Andrew de Mello, who participated in the role earlier this month after his predecessor resigned from an IRS agreement with the Trump administration to share the fiscal data of immigrants with the application of immigration and customs.

The Treasury Department, which supervises the IRS, did not immediately respond to requests on the reports.

The request to IRS occurs days after the private university announced that despite being threatened with the retention of $ 9 billion in federal subsidies, it would not reach an agreement with the Trump administration, which has attacked Harvard and other universities in what it states is an investigation into the “anti -Semitism” on campus and diversity, equity and inclusion practices (DEI).

“The University will not deliver its independence or resign from its constitutional rights,” wrote the lawyers of the school, Robert Hur and William Burck, to the officials of the Trump administration. “Neither Harvard nor any other private university can afford to be taken by the federal government. Consequently, Harvard will not accept the terms of the government as an agreement in principle.”

The changes that Trump demanded at the oldest university in the United States all the programs ofi, cutting the admissions of foreign students, requiring diversity of “point of view” in all programs, prohibiting certain groups of students and purging apartments of critical personnel of Israel.

Trump criticized Harvard on social networks on early Wednesday and threatened to reduce his federal funds.

“Harvard has been hiring almost all the awake, the radical left, the idiots and the ‘birds of birds’ that are only able to teach the students and the so -called ‘future leaders’,” he wrote.

“Harvard is a joke, he teaches hate and stupidity, and he should no longer receive federal funds,” he continued.
