President Donald Trump began the weekend on a more optimistic note following his Friday vitriol against Supreme Court justices who limited his ability to impose global tariffs in a 6-3 decision.

the president he said at a news conference on Friday he was “ashamed of certain members of the court, absolutely ashamed.” He also said that conservative judges Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch, in particular, whom he named, were a “shame for their families”because of their votes against him.

He again criticized Barrett and Gorsuch, along with Chief Justice John Roberts, in a Truth Social post. later that night. “At least I didn’t name Roberts,” he noted.

His cheeriest Saturday morning message, on the other hand, was reserved for the judges who voted in favor of Trump’s “emergency” tariffs on the rest of the world.

“My new hero is United States Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and of course Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito,” he wrote. “There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that they want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

However, the president’s positivity did not last long. About an hour and a half later, Trump declared that he would actually raise global tariffs to 15%, instead of the 10% he had previously announced, and used the announcement as an opportunity to deal another blow to the Supreme Court, saying he made the decision after “a thorough, detailed and complete review of the ridiculous, poorly worded and extraordinarily un-American tariff decision issued yesterday.”
