New research has revealed that a single weight training session can help combat breast cancer.

Researchers at Edith Cowan University in Australia investigated how resistance training and high -intensity intervals training (HIIT) affect cancer cells.

Newton said he found the surprising results, since the researchers suspected that there would be differences between resistance training and HIIT.

Francesco Bettariga, a doctoral student from the ECU who participated in the study, said in a press release that the exercise has become a “therapeutic intervention” for cancer management.

“There is great evidence that shows the safety and effectiveness of exercise as medicine, either during treatment or post-chancer,” he said.

The role of inflammation

Exercise and diet are also key to handling “systemic inflammation,” said Newton, since chronic inflammation undermines muscle growth and creates a “more” more “cancer support environment.

“If we are able to improve body composition, we have a better opportunity to reduce inflammation, because we are improving lean mass and reducing fat mass, which is responsible for releasing anti -inflammatory markers,” Bettariga said.

“You will never want to reduce your weight without exercising, because you need to build or preserve muscle mass and produce these chemicals that you can’t do alone with diet only,” he added.
