The nominations for the 2026 Actor Awards (the SAG Awards are no more!) are here, and with such an overwhelming number of strong contenders this year, it’s no surprise that some notable snubs emerged.
Perhaps most surprising is that”Evil: Forever” was not nominated for Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Motion Picture, and previous Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo also did not receive a nomination for her performance in the musical’s sequel (her co-star, Ariana Grande, earned a nomination for Best Female Actress in a Supporting Role).
Another big snub this year is “Abbott Elementary” Star Quinta Brunson is not appearing for the first time in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Comedy Series category, although her comedy is nominated for best ensemble. Brunson has been nominated individually every year since 2023.
Others who missed out on nominations this year include: Tessa Thompson, who gave a chaotic but deeply nuanced performance in Nia DaCosta’s critically acclaimed adaptation,”Hedda”; Adam Scott, main star of the Apple TV hit “Rupture” (which competes for best cast in a drama); the acclaimed family drama”Sentimental value,” despite earning numerous Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations; and “Jay Kelly,” despite Adam Sandler’s better performance.
Find out here who was nominated for the Actor Awards 2026.

“One battle after another” dominated the SAG Actor Awards nominations on Wednesday. Here’s why it’s a strong contender this awards season.
Let me start by saying that “One Battle After Another” is by no means a perfect film, as some critics would have you think. Paul Thomas Anderson makes many interesting decisions in his fast-paced epic action comedy, some of which continue to provoke cinematic discourse; That is to say, its problematic racial themes, upon which much of the plot is built, could definitely use some analysis on the director’s part.
HoweverThose issues aside, I still find the film very entertaining and I understand why so many others find it very entertaining as well. On the one hand, the performances of Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro and rising star Chase Infiniti help complete a plot that ranges from focusing on a group of radical revolutionaries to the search for a father and daughter facing the consequences of their past. The high-octane sequences of car chases and shootouts also add more excitement to the film as it begins to tackle heavier themes like white supremacy and immigration crackdowns. “One Battle After Another” is packed, indeed, but it is fun to watch.
“One battle after another” airs on HBO Max.

“The pit” He earned two nominations at the SAG Actor Awards on January 7. Here’s why you should watch the show.
The main reason I was hesitant to tune into “The Pitt” is perhaps the biggest factor behind the medical drama’s runaway success. It was hard to imagine how a show focused on a single 15-hour shift in the emergency room of a trauma center (with each episode covering one hour of said shift) could become an entertaining show. However, the HBO Max series achieved something miraculous thanks to its magnificent cast, led by Emmy winner Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, and a host of true stories that accurately depict life inside American hospitals. Most scripted medical shows today invest more time in the drama between the hospital staff, but “The Pitt” is also interested in dropping viewers right in the middle of what’s happening with its many patients. It’s what makes the show both intriguing and endearing. I’ll take 20 more seasons, please.
“The pit” airs on HBO Max. Season 2 premieres on January 8 at 9 pm ET.

“The study” dominated the television categories among the SAG Actor Awards nominations on Jan. 7: Seth Rogen, Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn and Catherine O’Hara were nominated, and the series is up for the top comedy award. Here’s why you should watch the show.
“The Studio” read the Hollywood filth machine in the funniest way possible. The unfiltered satire follows the madcap antics of a beleaguered studio executive (a hysterical Seth Rogen) who constantly struggles to balance giving in to corporate demands with indulging his own nerdy cinephile tastes. The show holds a mirror up to the film industry while playfully criticizing its obsession with franchise intellectual property and blockbuster cinema with inside jokes and wacky antics. Much of that credit goes to the excellent cast, led by Rogen, along with Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn, Chase Sui Wonders and Bryan Cranston, and the dozens of wild celebrity cameos that take the humor a step further (the best of which might be a tie between Martin Scorsese and Ron Howard). I still don’t understand how Rogen and his team managed to get all these stars to blatantly mock a version of themselves and land. But what is certain is that the show is undoubtedly one of the funniest comedies of the year, if not the funniest. I can’t wait to see how the Emmy-winning series tops itself when it returns for season two.
“The study” streams on Apple TV.

Sterling K. Brown earned a Best Actor nomination for his leading role in “Paradise.” Here’s why you should watch the show.
Any show starring Sterling K. Brown gets my immediate attention these days. But in the case of “Paradise,” there’s so much more that kept me tuning in week after week (and not just to avoid spoilers on social media). First, there’s the reunion of Brown and his “This Is Us” collaborator, creator Dan Fogelman, in another mind-bending drama, this time set in a post-apocalyptic world where the assassination of a former president uncovers a shocking conspiracy behind a secret underground city. Brown impresses as the Secret Service agent who relentlessly investigates said conspiracy and the person he suspects is responsible (menacingly played by Julianne Nicholson). At a time when the binge-watching model has dominated the streaming era, it’s refreshing that a Hulu series not only had a weekly release schedule but also proved successful. Each episode of “Paradise” gave me a reason to want more and more. Between the real-life parallels and a mystery that’s barely scratched the surface, it’s safe to say I’m hooked.
“Paradise” is streaming on Hulu. Season 2 premieres on February 23.

FX and Hulu renewed “The truth,” starring Ethan Hawke and created by Sterlin Harjo (“Reserve dogs”), On Wednesday. Here’s why you should watch the show.
Ethan Hawke gives the best performance of his career as Lee Raybon, a citizen journalist and self-proclaimed “truth historian” who investigates the death of an Oklahoma politician’s brother in “The Lowdown.” The story begins as a fairly conventional crime novel, but as the mystery deepens and evolves over eight quick episodes, the show examines how the racist treatment of Oklahoma’s indigenous communities in the early 20th century resonates strongly today. At times, Raybon skirts the line between hero and antihero. To put it mildly, journalistic ethics is not his strong point. Despite his professed love for the truth, it is clear that his reporting is also motivated by awards, recognition and cash. While some reviewers have criticized Raybon’s light white savior vibes, that’s the point. Among the magnificent supporting cast, Tim Blake Nelson stands out. He stands out as the studious and closeted Dale Washberg, whose death begins the season. Washberg’s reflections on what it means to be “sensitive” are some of the most powerful writing you’ll see on television this year. Anyone who has seen creator Sterlin Harjo’s previous show, “Reservation Dogs,” will recognize its ability to deftly switch between screwball comedy, hard-hitting drama and touching human moments. This program establishes him as a must-see television creator.
“The truth” is streaming on Hulu.

While Buckley dominates the female lead nominations for the 2026 awards season, it’s Jacobi Jupe’s heartbreaking performance that doesn’t get talked about enough.
The Chloé Zhao-directed film is an adaptation of author Maggie O’Farrell’s novel “Hamnet,” a 16th-century fictional story about William Shakespeare’s son Hamnet, his death from the plague and how it inspired the play “Hamlet.”
This movie will tear you apart, but it’s one of the best things you’ll see all year.
“Hamnet” It is showing in theaters.

The biggest snubs at the acting awards: from Quinta Brunson to ‘Wicked: For Good’
The nominations for the 2026 Actor Awards (the SAG Awards are no more!) are here, and with such an overwhelming number of strong contenders this year, it’s no surprise that some notable snubs emerged.
Perhaps most surprising is that “Wicked: For Good” was not nominated for Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Motion Picture, and previous Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo also did not receive a nomination for her performance in the musical sequel (her co-star, Ariana Grande, earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress).
Another big snub this year is that “Abbott Elementary” star Quinta Brunson doesn’t appear for the first time in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Comedy Series category, even though her comedy is nominated for best ensemble. Brunson has been nominated individually every year since 2023.
Others who missed out on nominations this year include: Tessa Thompson, who gave a chaotic but deeply nuanced performance in Nia DaCosta’s acclaimed adaptation, “Hedda”; Adam Scott, lead star of the Apple TV hit “Severance” (nominated for best ensemble cast in a drama); the acclaimed family drama “Sentimental Value,” despite earning numerous Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations; and “Jay Kelly”, despite Adam Sandler’s better performance.
Find out here who was nominated for the Actor Awards 2026.

‘One Battle After Another’ Earns Record 7 SAG Actor Awards Nominations
“One Battle After Another” dominated the SAG Actors Awards nominations on Wednesday.
“One Battle After Another” is streaming on HBO Max.

‘The Pitt’ returns for season 2, we hope it lives up to season 1
“The Pitt” earned two SAG Actor Awards nominations on Jan. 7.
“The Pitt” is currently streaming on HBO Max. Season 2 premieres on January 8 at 9 pm ET.

‘The Studio’ read Hollywood’s filth machine in the funniest way
“The Studio” dominated the television categories among SAG Actor Awards nominations on Jan.
“The Studio” is streaming on Apple TV.

‘Paradise’ is a Mind-Blowing Hulu Drama You Should Catch Up Before Season 2

FX Renews ‘The Lowdown’ for Season 2 After Standout First Run
FX and Hulu on Wednesday renewed “The Lowdown,” starring Ethan Hawke and created by Sterlin Harjo (“Reservation Dogs”).
Among the superb supporting cast, Tim Blake Nelson stands out as the studious and closeted Dale Washberg, whose death kicks off the season.
“The Lowdown” is streaming on Hulu.

Agata Grzybowska
‘Hamnet’ is truly devastating, which is exactly why everyone should see it
Jessie Buckley was nominated for a SAG Actor Awards for her performance in “Hamnet.”
“Hamnet” is one of the most devastating films of the year, packed with spectacular performances from its cast: Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Jacobi Jupe, Joe Alwyn, Olivia Lynes and Noah Jupe will make you cry.
“Hamnet” is showing in theaters.
