Californians will make the call on a major redistricting initiative spurred by Republican efforts in Texas to redraw district lines to gain more Republican seats in Congress.
Proposition 50, which is being pushed hard by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), would suspend the use of maps drawn by the nonpartisan California Redistricting Commission through 2031, and allow the use of new maps that would help secure five additional Democratic seats in Congress.
Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
