Works that are at a higher risk of AI, according to Microsoft
NEWNow you can listen to News articles!
At this time, many people are worried that artificial intelligence (AI) comes for their work. If you are one of them, then Microsoft’s recent study will shed some light on how the generative capabilities of AI will affect your work field. In short, some occupations are more susceptible to their influence than others.
This study is doing waves because, unlike previous studies, it attracts information on real world data. Microsoft analyzed 200,000 anonymous co -driver conversations of 2024 and mapped them against the US government employment classification system.
The study also identified entire occupational groups, such as “computer and mathematical occupations” and “administrative and office support”, among those with the highest overlap. The results reveal exactly what races that are already playing and which barely affects.

Will AI replace you?
The study result was the calculation of an “AI applicability score”. It measures how closely certain work activities are aligned with the abilities of AI. To anyone’s surprise, the roles based on heavy knowledge and communication were at the top of the most affected job list. In the lower part of this list there were works that require physical work or machine operation, which show a minimal overlap.
This score reflects the overlap, not the loss of guaranteed work. The researchers emphasized that no occupation is completely carried out by AI. The study focuses only on language -based generative AI (such as Copilot), not in other areas of AI such as robotics or autonomous systems, which could affect different roles.

Why the overlap of high AI does not always mean loss of work
The researchers emphasized that it is important to differentiate between overlap and replacement. Superposition means that AI performs certain tasks along with humans, while replacement means that it will take its place. The study does not make predictions on employment growth or losses. It is simply a snapshot where the AI fits today. In fact, historical trends suggest that automation can sometimes add jobs instead of removing them. Therefore, not everything is sad and fatality, even in sectors with high overlap.

What this means for you
If your work appears in the “most impacted” list, it does not mean that you need to panic or start packing your desk. It means that AI is already able to handle parts of your daily tasks, and that can be an opportunity if you learn to use it. Those who adopt AI tools can now work faster, release time for creative thinking and become even more valuable.
If your role is on the “less impacted” list, do not assume that it is immune forever. While physical and practical works have less overlapping with AI today, future technologies beyond language models, such as robotics or AI machinery, could change that image. Stay adaptable, learn basic skills of AI and keep up with technological trends will help you stay at the forefront regardless of your industry.
In short, this study as a professional climate forecast, not as a prediction of the final judgment day. I might not replace it, but someone who knows how to work with AI could. The smartest movement? Learn to be that person.

From now on, it seems that there are no mass unemployment predictions due to the increase in AI. However, the study emphasizes that impacted areas can evolve. A good example is how bankers still exist even though we have ATMs. They simply redefined the role of the ATMs, and this is what will happen with the generative AI in several fields. And who knows? AI can even lead to completely new professions. Therefore, it helps professionals in high supervision fields to see the AI as a collaborator.
